Collaboration with Google Platforms & Devices featured in White Paper

December 2025

Our work with the Sustainability team for Google’s Platforms & Devices on the potential for nature enhancement at manufacturing sites is summarized in a new white paper. In this project, we were able to show the benefits of combining large-scale geospatial data with ground-based expert ecological assessment, collaborating with a team of ecologists and taxonomists from the Việt Nam Academy of Science and Technology.

Our research demonstrated that a surprising number of species could be found at these sites, suggesting that rather than focusing on a single endangered species, a "cohort-based" ecological approach could increase biodiversity in developed, industrial landscapes.

These cohorts are created by identifying which species could inhabit developed zones that are important to the local community from an environmental, economic, or cultural perspective, focusing on high-impact mitigations that address the needs of many species, important to the local community, that could inhabit the developed region.
